Coolermaster sends their newer Elite 311 Plus Mid-tower case that comes with a single USB 3.0 port on the front panel. Just how much value can you put in such cases?
Elite series is one of the first to give a step-up over cases from Indian brands that were worth about Rs. 1,000/-. As usual, end user’s needs increases and they wouldn’t mind paying bit more provided the cost was justified. That’s how cases like Elite series started to sell. And then came NZXT Gamma which pretty much changed a lot about cases worth well below Rs. 4,000/-. Sure, the only setback was that the front panel was a turn-off for many, but back then there weren’t many options and considering the built quality, space and internal paint job that’s the best you can get. As usual people wanted more for their money’s worth- then came the updated Elite versions with painted internals and out of nowhere Bitfenix comes along, started selling Merc Alpha- a very nicely made case worth Rs. 2,500/- and came with 4x USB 2.0. Cases that cost between Rs. 2,000/- and Rs. 4,000/- sell a lot. Its a tough sell- if you make a good case and you have a good distribution and product rep, you’re all set!!
The exciting part to see this segment grow is because when you think that you can’t more for a case worth Rs. 2,500/-, someone out of nowhere puts this case infront of you that addresses the cons that the competitors have. First it started with bottom psu mount cases, then tool-less plasticky contraptions, then internal paintjob…. all that was done but no1 bundled a case with this budget with all this and a 2x 120mm fan… then I see CM Elite 311 Plus with a front fan and a rear fan.
So it shouldn’t be a surprise that Elite 311 plus is more deemed as an option against cases with similar design with a single USB 3.0 port. If you look at NZXT, they have the Source 210 Elite. Its been said before and it shall be said again- Judge a company’s potential to make more expensive cases by the value they provide in low-cost PC Chassis.
