Noctua NH-D9L Air CPU Cooler

The NH-D9L is a premium grade dual tower CPU cooler that has been designed to provide excellent quiet cooling performance at a height of only 110mm. Its comparably low profile (15mm lower than classic 9cm tower coolers such as the NH-U9S) doesn’t only guarantee full 3U compliance but also makes the NH-D9L ideal for compact HTPC and Small Form Factor cases that have airflow paths parallel to the mainboard.

From Hardware BBQ:

But between these three CPU coolers, Noctua NH-U9S and CM Hyper D92 does a good job. U9S does better with a second fan. So, NH-U9S doesn’t really does its best for cooling an overclocked processor on load, but there was no CPU throttling. Another benefit is that NH-D9L is shorter than the other two at 110mm. This CPU cooler is made to ensure compatibility with 3U rack mount chassis.

From Modders Inc.:

While I did not expect the NH-D9L to outperform the excellent NH-U9S previously reviewed here, it is nonetheless surprising to see such a small heatsink take on the previous generation NH-U9B SE2 and the ever popular Cooler Master Hyper 212+ and be able to go toe-to-toe. A heatsink with such small footprint is designed primarily to be able to fit in tight spaced situations unlike regular tower coolers so it will be unfair to just strictly look at the NH-D9L from a cooling performance standpoint but it manages to impress even out of that context.
