AMD discloses some information about FX-9000 Series Processors

As said before, FX-9590 and FX-9370 will be available only for system integrators. In one corner, there was a rumour that the newer series will have 220W TDP and in another AMD doesn’t seem to be interested to release these processors out in the retail market, at least not just yet. But a report pointed out that the TDP rumour is confirmed, which somewhat explains why its not available in retail.

The processor will require advanced coolers, followed by a motherboard with will power up 220W TDP processors. The overall cost will obviously be expensive and perhaps difficult for end users to build a system around.

What was sort of a downer was that AMD bragged about its clock speed using turbo. But then it was revealed that FX-9370 will have base clock speed of 4.4 GHz, whereas FX-9590 will have base clock speed of 4.7 GHz. The Turbo Boost bumps the clocks up to 300 MHz, depending on the ‘conditions’ which will bump up to 4.7 GHz and 5 GHz.
