The MS-100 speakers are quite large for a portable unit and their conical design doesn’t lend too well for fitting inside a laptop bag to be carried around which hampers their portability.

The wire is quite short but considering most people would use them with laptops or with an all in one PC, the wire length is more than sufficient. There is a volume scroll on one of the units which is a nice thing to have. There is also a mute button above the volume scroll.

Looks wise they are quite decent with a conical design and look different from the run of the mill boxy speaker designs. Unfortunately their design also hampers their portability.

They have to be connected to only one USB port which is a plus point as some designs require 2 ports and USB ports are at a premium on a laptop.

Other than being a speaker system the MS-100s are also a sound card as it bypasses the sound card on the PC. So even if the sound card on your PC is not working or defective the MS-100 will still work perfectly.

There is no remote bundled with the set but considering these are meant to be used with laptops and the USB cord is quite small, the volume scroll should suffice since these speakers are sure to be set up next to the laptop.

  1. The speakers has no ass???

  2. For 1.6K?
    Pricing fail.
Logitech 'Z100' or something like that (forgot the exact model number), have similar design and costs ~550/-

  3. If you're referring to Z110 or a similar model, it uses a 3.5mm audio jack but takes power from USB like how few units from F&D has for few years now, atleast judging by the specifications mentioned in logitech's product website.

This one takes power from the USB port and uses the same USB port to deliver sound.

  4. Hi d6bmg, the Logitech Z110 is priced lower but has barely 1.2 Watts of power. The Asus has more than double the power output at 3 watts.

  5. ASUS MS-100 USB speakers are designed to look sharp and striking, thanks a lot for sharing this phenomenal post. I also share some point about Asus issues.
