Main Sub Components

Most controllers are covered, including Intel Thunderbolt 3 controller, a Renesas USB 3.0 controller, two of its Intel LAN and the audio circuitry using the Realtek ALC1150 codec. You’ll find two of its BIOS chips below the second PCIe x16 slot.

Installation Impressions

The natural obstacle that X99 chipset have are the four DIMM slots on each side. Since its an ATX motherboard with a certain design philosophy, it needs to be assured that it this won’t obstruct CPU air coolers.

The installation of M.2 storage drive is not a problem as all.

There is a good enough space between the NH-U14S CPU cooler and its first slot, ensuring that it won’t be an obstacle for a graphic card with a backplate. Note that Noctua NH-U14S CPU cooler an asymmetric design and hence ensures that it won’t be an obstacle in such cases for most of the motherboards.
