Intel is confirmed to launch their upcoming 8-core desktop processor codenamed ‘Haswell-E’ by third quarter of 2014. However it was said that Intel’s first 8-core desktop processor would be priced around $1,000 according to a reputed source.
Haswell-E will be replacing Ivy Bridge-E, and will be accompanied with Intel X99 Chipset. It will be based on 22nm process and support Hyper-Threading, Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, PCIe 3.0 and will be the first to adopt DDR4, but with upto 2133MHz frequency. The next gen chipset will have native supports for USB 3.0 and up to 10 SATA III ports.
Meanwhile, Haswell’s existing line-up will be having a refresh and its said that the shipment will start by May (Q2 2014), but the announcement will be done during Computex 2014 along with Z97 and H97 chipsets.
