Intel releases Pentium Silver and Celeron CPUs

During October, Intel released the ‘Pentium Gold’ series Kaby Lake processors. This implied the chipmaker will have more Pentium variants with other precious metals. So they’ve announced a ‘ Pentium Silver’ & Celeron series desktop and notebook processors using a brand new Gemini Lake Architecture.

On-Chip WiFi, LACE feature…

The benefit of the Pentium Silver and Celeron SKUs is that they are built with on-chip WiFi 2×2 802.11 AC with the capability to up 160 MHz channels. It also claims this new solution to be even quicker than the hardwired gigabit ethernet options. For on-chip graphics, it uses UHD 600 and UHD 605 IGPs to handled latest streaming requirements from sites like Youtube and Netflix. Intel did not confirm or mention any 4K compatibility. It also supports a new display technology called ‘Local Adaptive Enhancement (LACE)’. This will work to reduce screen glares when using the device outdoors. The mobile SKUs are Intel Pentium Silver N5000 and Intel Celeron N4100 & N4000 CPUs.

The desktop variants are made for general computing using in All-in-one PCs, mini Pcs and maybe some low-end desktops for home and school use. Intel Pentium Silver will be marked as J5005 and J4105 and J4005 for Celeron desktop CPUs.
