According to a shipping manifest, Nvidia shipped its GeForce GTX 880 engineering samples from China to Banglore, India. What’s also interesting is that it points out the engineering sample has 8GB of GDDR5 memory. One can help but wonder if GTX 880 will have 8GB memory, or if Nvidia is simply exploring that possibility.
The product’s value per unit is declared as Rs. 47,803 viz is roughly US $795.52. Though this isn’t necessarily should be the actual retail price, but one could safely speculate that the actual retail card would cost well within that price per unit. It should be noted that several different components came from Taiwan as well, including a product whose description states ‘Water cooled plunger’, along with the support plate.
The chip is fabricated by TMC and modelled as ‘GM204-A01’ which might be based on 28nm process. What’s also was discussed that the B1 rev of GM204 would probably surface in the second half of 2015, and would be based on 20nm for GTX 970. That being said, there is no information to support GTX 790’s probable specification.
It should be noted that the GPU maker is facing a manufacturing delay.
As of now, its rumoured that the upcoming graphic card will also have 3,200 CUDA cores, 5.7 TFLOP/s and a 256-bit memory bus.
