After the development of multiple complaints, threads and Reddit chatter about Batman Arkham Knight for PC bloopers with poor framerate even with systems that exceed its recommended specifications, along with memory leaks, it’s now clear what really happened to create this mess. The studio reveals they outsourced the PC port to a much smaller developer that usually works with last generation consoles and the iOS. Iron Galaxy studio is credited for the game’s additional engineering and PC support.
The studio was behind porting Destiny for PlayStation 3, Borderlands 2 for PS Vita and Batman Arkham Origins for PC, which was also known to have its own set of problems in the past. Why would Warner Bros. and Rocksteady studios let a game port be handled by a developer with little-to-no good experience with PC port?
We’re aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously. We are working closely with our external PC development partner to make sure these issues get resolved as quickly as possible.
We’ll update this thread when we’ve got more info to share.
As of now, it’s not known how will Rocksteady studios will go about fixing the issue with a studio that has no solid experience with PC port. Meanwhile, AMD and Nvidia released drivers for Batman Arkham Knight. It’s very disappointing to see a lack of commitment from Rocksteady and Warner Bros towards PC gamers, especially with a presence of discrete GPU maker Nvidia where they used its Gameworks technology.
