Stocksucks.in/Hardware BBQ PC Build Guide- Summer ’11

Its that time of the year where people are ready to ready to cash it in for a new PC! All those folks in Mumbai: Don’t know what to choose and what hardware to look at?

Harshal Tank of Stocksucks.in and I spent sometime at Lamington Road to keep you one step ahead for your PC Purchase decisions. Credits to the good folks at Prime ABGB, Lamington Road who were able to hook us up with good combo deals, updates on stocks and availability.

Note: The prices that we’ve collected was on 25-02-2011. We’ve seen a lot of times when demand increases, so does the price. Some will remember when VX450 was increased from 3.2k to 4.2k and then lowered down when newer Rev versions came out since a year ago.

I’ve called up Prime ABGB  (04-03-2011) and the i3 540+ MLX combo has increased to 9.1k about 2-3 days ago. We went to Prime because we are familiar with them and as far as experience goes, they have the patience to inform us about the prices. It will be different in other stores, cities, etc.

Now, keep in mind that we have made this guide based on what hardware is available in Mumbai and great combo deals are available out there. Despite few motherboards being well-known for its value and offerings, they have been out-of-stock (and one of them not being in India even though it is put up in certain online stores).

i3 540 consumes less power on load and Idle, on top of it the i3 processor can decode 1080p with bitstream support.

NZXT Gamma is a large case for its price with a really good paint job both externally and internally with a good overall construction for Rs. 2,000 its surely something to grab.

Looking for an extra for processor heavy application? Here’s the rig. 955+BE and 880GM is a really good combo for what its worth. Hook it up with a 4gig G Skill and you’re all set.
But if you’re looking out for gaming as well, its best if you grab a bit better power supply. You’re getting Antec EA 430 for Rs. 3400 which you can pair it up with Sapphire 5750 as mentioned above for Rs. 4,700. Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 / 1GB GDDR5 retails for Rs. 7,500 or MSI 6850 1GB DDR5 for Rs. 11,000 which you can pair it up with a Corsair VX550 for Rs. 4800/-. Depending on what graphic card+ power supply combo you’re choosing, anyone with under 50k budget will be content with the rig.

PC for Rs.55,000/- to Rs. 80,000/-

At the time of putting this together, there is no B3 Rev Intel P67 chipsetboards available (yet). Despite the whispers and expectations set by many sources, we’re suggesting an alternate incase you have to grab a rig now.

Looking for a powerhorse? There she is!!

Looking for something under 70k? Ditch the SSD is a no brainer for some so if you can live without it, ditch it. NZXT Tempest EVO for 5.6k is brilliant. The case is HUGE for its price+ space+ built and comes with all the cooling fans you ever require. But if you don’t require the case, switch to NZXT Gamma for 2k. You can also replace the motherboard+ processor combo for 955BE+ Gigabyte 880GM UD2H as its priced for Rs. 11,000. However bear in mind that you’re loosing out on USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s ports if you’re going down this road. Also keep in mind about the motherboard’s layout as it might block couple of SATA ports.

If you’re working it out that way, this is what you’ll get:

HardwareBrand+ SpecsPrice
Processor+ Motherboard comboAMD X4 965BE+ Gigabyte 880GM UD2HRs. 11,000/-
Memory4GB (2GBX2) 1600MHz DDR3 G SkillsRs. 2,800/-

  • AMD Phenom II X6 1055T+ Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 Rs. 17500 is one combo you could consider if you don’t mind spending bit more.
  • NVidia 560Ti from Zotac costs Rs. 15,500/- if you are fan of NVIDIA.
  • If you belong to previously grean now turned to the red team, ATi 6870 from Sapphire costs Rs. 14,000/-. You get Dell U2311H IPS panel for Rs. 14,000/-. Want to overclock? Noctua U12PSE2 currently costs Rs. 3,600/- and comes with all the stuff you will need.

  1. i was also expecting from AMD range and PC set-up for under 20 grand.
And since there are a hell lot of motherboards and monitors in the market nowadays why not mention some of the worthy ones as “substitute/s” 😉
    Kudos! 🙂
