Toshiba is also into Storage H/W: From cloud storage to hybrid drives (like Seagate's Momentus XT), consumer level drives, SSDs and 2.5" SAS drives. This is the first Toshiba drive I am evaluating. The DT01ACA desktop series drives were launched internationally back on August 8, 2012- the same day and place when WD made an agreement to manufacturer drives for Toshiba using Hitachi Global storage- although it recently launched in India. Well, all inclusive the drive will retail a bit under 3.5k- so that pretty much goes head to head with WD Blue AAKX and Seagate Barracuda – both being 500gig counterparts. I didn’t get to evaluate the 500gig version of Seagate Barracuda, but comparing the numbers with the AAKX, Toshiba is quicker in sequential and access. Its a good choice for storage- or if you want a cost-effective rig, you can shortlist this thread.
